In the Morpeth Herald edition dated 8th July is a report regarding further damage to my car.The report unfortunately but understandably was unable to report the full facts as it would have indicated the incident took place extremely close to home.

I am not constrained in that matter and very shortly I will actually name the teenager who I believe to be responsible.

You may recall the grant SoS and ourselves received for a professional trapper for a period of 6 months. He started in January in the area of Howburn and Bluebell Woods near St George's hospital grounds. We were concerned at the possibility of interference with the traps therefore we felt it prudent to keep the operation as secrative as possible. The result has been amazing. 51 greys killed and a pair of reds returning. We are now concentrating on another area of strategic importance related to the Wansbeck Corridor on private land. The other grant of £2400 towards trapping west of the A1 has come through, better than expected in as much we received 50 traps much lower than originally budgeted for resulting in a larger pot for the trapping. Good news alround.

It is worth noting that with regard to the trapping which took place in the Howburn and Bluebell Woods an approach was made to King Edward V1 School for asistance in grey control. This was turned down because of the views of one or two of the teachers. It is also worth mentioning the school had the audacity to have an article printed in the Morpeth Herald 11 Feb. about supporting Northumberland red squirrels.Seems the school and the authorities have forgotten that our group is responsible for reds still existing in Morpeth strongly supported by the people of Morpeth.

The arrangement with Joe's Pet Supplies of Morpeth selling hazelnuts on behalf of us is proving to be very successful.

A large female non too pleased. On release it scarpered up to the top of a tree giving me a piece of its mind!! However it still hung around moving through the canopy towards where I was observing it!! Absolutely amazing.

With the 54 for Howburn/Bluebell Woods total for year is 317.This well exceeds last years total of 102 and is a reflection of the increased area of influence and the proactive and positive policy towards eliminating greys from the Greater Morpeth area.
